TYPES OF MUSCLES

Our body is made up of different types of muscles. There are skeletal muscles, smooth muscles, and cardiac muscles.

SKELETAL MUSCLE (STRIATED MUSCLE)

• seen attached to the bones
• cylindrical cells
• dark and light striations are seen
• make voluntary movements possible

SMOOTH MUSCLE (NON-STRIATED MUSCLE)

• seen in internal organs like stomach, small intestine, and blood vessels
• spindle-shaped cells
• no striations
• make involuntary movements possible

CARDIAC MUSCLE

• Seen on the walls of the heart
• branched cells 
• striations are seen
• make involuntary movements possible
